Links we like

Mark and I are totally in to cars, all kinds, and here are some of the places we like to hang out at:

Wayne-Chasing Classic CarsChasing Classic Cars is on Velocity Channel. Love this show. Chasing Classic Cars follows Ferrari expert and master car restorer, Wayne Carini, as he takes viewers on his personal mission to uncover the world’s most rare and exotic cars. Here is a link to the show’s Facebook page.

Jay's-GarageJay’s Garage. Jay as in Jay Leno. There are two things I love about this guy. 1st he’s funny and second is a HUGE car guy. He has cars I have never heard of before and I love his walk a rounds. I don’t want to move out of Wisconsin but a gig with Jay would certainly change that thought.

IndyCar Series LogoIndyCars.com. Mark loves this site and so do I as it keeps us up to date on the latest standings and races.

RA LogoRoad America is our favorite track. Mark and I have both driven on it on multiple occasions. Once I had my old Suzuki Bandit 1200 on it. What fun. Great races.

Die-cast: 1956 Maserati 300S

CMC nails sporty ’56 Maserati racer

Filename: MOD-DC0213_Maserati03.psdMaserati is just slightly below Ferrari on the ooh and aah list of exotic Italian cars that car lovers and race car collectors recognize.

So when CMC, the premier 1:18 die-cast car modeler, rolls out a stunning red Maserati 300S, serious collectors will take note. Back in the 1950s Maserati racers were primo and highly competitive with the likes of Ferrari and Jaguar in sports car competition, and the 300S generally was a success. But equally important, it had, and has, a beautiful shape.

The 1956 model that CMC recently unveiled featured a twin-plug inline 6-cylinder engine with 3 Weber carbs and a hearty 245 horsepower that could propel it from 0-60 in about five seconds with a top speed of 180 mph. THAT was moving in the mid-’50s. Continue reading Die-cast: 1956 Maserati 300S

Art by Design: The Automobile

Since it was nice this past weekend, I hopped on my motorcycle and took a ride to the Wilson Center in Brookfield, WI for an art show. No wait, not just an “art show”. Sure they had paintings, which I barely glanced at, but they also had some pretty cool cars which are really rolling pieces of art. Here’s my video. Make sure to send us your ride and we’ll feature it right here.

Paul drives a Ferrari

It’s one of those cars most guys lust over, a Ferrari. Nothing else seems to mater when one drives by. The power is beyond words. The handling is perfect.
And when the 458 is cruising around town, it’s downright sedate…(you might even think you were in a *gasp* luxury sedan.) Hit the gas on the highway, though, and it comes to life like no other Ferrari in history. My opportunity came with a Groupon and for just 99 bucks. I could not resist. One more item off my bucket list.
