Car Spot: 1954 Agnelli Ferrari 375 America Coupe Speciale!

The only one in the world!

Throughout history, rarely has there been a figure as commanding of attention as heir to the Fiat fortune, international business mogul, and playboy Gianni Agnelli. Silver-haired, suave, and as stylish as his tailored A. Caraceni Italian suits, Agnelli was named one of the 5 most handsome men in the world by Esquire magazine. Gianni Agnelli knew style…. better yet, he knew Enzo Ferrari! Their enduring friendship and mutual admiration spanned nearly half a century and resulted in the creation of this exclusive 1954 Ferrari 375 America Coupe Speciale designed by Pininfarina to Agnelli’s specifications, and was on display at the Fiesta Italiana event at The Automobile Gallery of Green Bay.

Famous Italian automobile designer Gianni Agnelli.
Like its Italian cousin, the 250 GT, it captured the attention of the car enthusiast.

Agnelli’s 375 America Coupe Speciale wears a handsome two-tone Verde Scuro (rich dark green) paint beautifully accented with a luxurious Bordeaux leather interior. Bespoke brilliance revealed itself through special touches, including a panoramic wraparound front windshield, a contrasting, specially designed roof, a large glass sunroof, a flat, roll-down rear window, and twin flying buttresses that flowed all the way to the tail. Its most distinctive feature is a one-of-a-kind custom grille unlike any other Ferrari in history!

The sunroof added to the elegance of the car before sunroofs were even thought of.
This is where the magic happens.

Exclusivity isn’t reserved just for the exterior. The dazzling 4.9-liter Lampredi V12 featuring triple Weber carburetors, producing 330 horsepower and eclipsing 150 mph, was a remarkable accomplishment for the early 1950s! To boldly suggest that the Agnelli 375 America Coupe Speciale is the perfect car, perhaps even the perfect Ferrari, isn’t opinion…it is fact. In 2003, judges awarded the Agnelli 375 a landmark perfect score of 100 points to win Best of Show at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance against the most elite automobiles in the world!

Doing what it does best, showing off at a car show.

This was a rare showing, like last week’s Ferrari 250 GTO, which is the result of my buddy Darrel Burnett being so plugged into the car community and having contacts at Motion Products located right down the road from Green Bay in Neenah. I had no idea they even existed until Darrel told me about them. OK, for the two big questions, who’s the owner and what’s its value? Forget about the owner. These people like to keep it on the down low. As far as value, Darrel told me somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 million! Wow!

I can only imagine sitting in it and turning the key to hear the engine rumble.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out this week’s spot. I have a couple more finds from the event that I’ll share in the next couple of weeks. Some amazing cars! Have a great week. Arrivederci!
