Car Spot: 2023 Ferrari 812 Superfast

The first half-million dollar one I’ve seen in the wild

About a month ago my wife and I went down to Grapevine TX to visit our daughter who works as a safety officer at DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport) and take in the Packer-Cowboy game. Everything is bigger in Dallas and AT&T stadium is huge. So are the amount of exotic cars I spotted while down there. We were having diner one night and parked right out front was this drop-dead gorgeous Ferrari 812 Superfast with the top off.

It was hard NOT to notice this car!

I stopped an stared and stared and stared because I’ve never seen one of these in the wild before and knowing that just about every Ferrari is a six-figure car. Boy is it. well into six-figures. Like closer to a half a million bucks! $700,000ish! The most expensive car I’ve ever seen outside of a museum. I must have stood there eyeing it for a half-hour.

A Ferrari 812 GTS, a high-end sports car, parked on the street with a sleek white exterior and red interior.
This car looks fab in any angle you look at it.

What makes this Ferrari so special? Equipped with screaming a V-12 engine that will rev out to about 9,000 rpm and aren’t for the faint of heart or the uninitiated. Wheee, I’d have a lot of fun with it! In a Motor Trend review in 2023 The said, “During our First Drive of the 812 GTS, we initially found the two-door to be rather intimidating as a result of its astronomical output, but we ultimately found we could comfortably take the 12-cylinder screamer to the limit with a little finesse. We said it accelerates with a wail that is everything we dreamed about when we hung posters of Ferraris on our walls. “

Like the exterior, the interior is like a work of art and just oozes Ferrari.

It comes in two flavors, the touring-oriented 812 GTS, that I spotted here, is powered by a 6.5-liter V-12 engine that sends 789 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In Motor Trend testing, the mechanically identical 812 Superfast blitzed the 0-60-mph run in just 2.8 seconds. Wow! The 812 Competizione ups horsepower to 819 and drops torque slightly to 510 lb-ft. Ferrari says the Competizione is 1.5 seconds faster around the Fiorano test track in Maranello.

RELATED Spot: Another supercar and I get to drive it, Bentley Flying Spur.

I would imagine lots of wannabe street racers see this end.

A tale of two different vehicles with blinding fast acceleration. That’s a Tesla Cybertruck in the background.

This was my most expensive spot in the wild but I saw more expensive cars at the Dallas Car and Toy Museum and will share them in future spots. Have a great week and come back next Sunday for another one of my spots along with some of its history.
