The ultimate EV
What does a half mil of luxury electric car look like? Consider the new 2024 Rolls Royce Spectre Mark and I drove at the MAMA Spring Rally at Road America recently. Wow, everything from giant suicide doors that close automatically (driver need only touch the brake pedal) to umbrellas embedded in the doors so oneself needed to be dampened by inclement weather.
RELATED Spot: Rolls Royce’s SUV, the Cullinan
Although it is built on the same platform as the flagship Phantom sedan and Cullinan SUV, unlike its siblings, the Spectre doesn’t have a giant V12 under its hood. Instead, it’s powered by a dual-motor electric powertrain, capable of generating up to 577 horsepower and providing a maximum range of up to 291 miles. It will do naught to 60 in 4.2 seconds which is impressive for such a beast. Once I put my foot down, its true Rolls-Royce colors came out gliding the Spectre forward almost like a magic carpet gliding through the air. I love the roar of a big V8 so it took a while to adjust to the extreme silence and lack of sensory feedback.

Inside, it’s like you’re in another world with leather and wood all around. But that’s not all, the headliner is a virtual galaxy of night sky stars that can be programmed to match whatever night sky date one wants. The Spectre’s door panels rock a similar twinkle with tiny LED lights sparkling in the area surrounding the armrests.
This was a spectacular experience for both Mark and me and there probably won’t be many more opportunities to drive a vehicle that is priced at $500,000. That’s a ton of cheddar! Thanks for stopping by and reading about my latest spot and probably not as pricey as this one. Have a great weekend.
