SavageOnWheels, Mark Savage, honest car reviews

Mark Savage (aka Savage on Wheels) began reviewing cars for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 1989 and now reviews for WUWM.com. He’s a lifelong car enthusiast who hails from Indianapolis. Not surprisingly, he’s also an avid Indy 500 fan, attending races since 1962 (he was quite young at the time). He’s also a nut about diecast and slot cars. What can we say, he loves cars!

Mark’s current column can be seen at WUWM.com, along with interviews on WUWM‘s Lake Effect show. This site features many of his car reviews, both of the full-size models he drives, along with diecast cars.

His buddy, webmaster and videographer Paul Daniel, also a car nut (loves AMC, sorry!), has an extensive collection of promo models. He’ll post occasional stories on those and vintage cars he spots on the road. He also shoots videos of Mark’s cars and commentary and posts those on our Savage On Wheels YouTube page. Please join!

This is a car site, for folks who enjoy cars, no matter their size, but value honesty above hype. Please read and share our posts!

  1. Does your website have a contact page? I’m having trouble locating it but, I’d like to shoot you an email.
I’ve got some creative ideas for your blog you might be interested in hearing. Either way, great website and I look forward to seeing it develop over time.

  2. Hi Mark !
I enjoyed your ” Snapshot ” on the 2013 Mazda CX-9, bought a 2012 Mazda CX-9 last month and am getting at least 25 miles to the gallon with front wheel drive version; great comfort on the seats. Met you at Lee Simono’s place accross from Mill Pond several times about 10 yrs ago. You may not remember me ( Terry Murray ) and my brother in law ( Bob Buettner ) but I’m sure you remember Lee.
Keep on testing those cars !

    1. Terry, thanks for the kind words. Obviously you saw the column in the Journal Sentinel. I post all my reviews up here on Savageonwheels a week or so after they first appear in the paper. So if you, or your friends, ever want to look at past reviews, they’ll all be right here and a simple search should turn up what you’re after. Always enjoyed being up at Lee’s place, especially in fall!

  3. Mr Savage
I am interested in getting information on what cars you think have the most confortable seats in all price ranges. Thank-you.

    1. John, it would be good to know what you’re looking for. I can tell you, as a shorter driver, 5-5, there are many seats that aren’t great for me. Many U.S. cars and trucks have deep bottom cushions, which hit the back of a short driver’s legs. I would say generally I’ve felt comfortable in Acuras and Lexus, which of course are at the top end of the market. Many Toyotas and Mazdas also have been comfortable, and those would be in the mid-range. I’d say the Hyundai Elantra also is quite comfortable to me, as was the recent Nissan Altima I drove, along the current Dodge Dart I’m driving. Hope that helps some. Feel free to ask more specific questions.
