Taking camping to a whole new level …
Every year I camp on the grounds at EAA’s AirVenture in Oshkosh with a group of my flying buddies. We do pretty well with our campers and bunkhouse but this year I found something that would be over the top, this week’s spot, the EarthRoamer LTi.
According to its website, EarthRoamer’s mission is to create the world’s most innovative and capable, go-anywhere, luxury, off-grid vehicles that enable owners to explore their world in total comfort and with complete confidence. Wow, that’s an understatement. Built on a Ford F-550 Lariat 4WD Chassis and powered by a 6.7L Turbo Diesel, while its carbon fiber body is a work of art in new technology. Each LTi body is crafted through a Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP), which bonds two carbon fiber skins to a structural foam core, creating a monocoque body giving the vehicle unparalleled strength and lightness compared to traditional RV and overland camper bodies. The EarthRoamer LTi can go anywhere. Riding on Goodyear 43” tires paired with military-grade beadlock rims, it’s home on anything from paved highways to rugged trails and has a top speed of 81 mph. Not bad for a vehicle weighing around 17,000 pounds.

The interior will blow you away. It can accommodate up to six depending on the configuration. The camper has three distinct living areas. With the large camper-to-cab pass-through, the cab of the truck can be used as an additional room with captain chair seating while the cab-over bunk makes a great lounge area for reading, watching TV, or listening to music. There’s a 4-position bunk TV, a living area mounted TV, a Sonos Move, a Satellite TV, and a Sirius radio. A 3G/4G Wifi router is standard with LTi, to keep you connected. Outside an exterior kitchen package includes an electric awning, and LED lighting around the camper.
Not going to be around civilization for a while? It will carry 95 gallons of fuel, 100 gallons of fresh water, and 40 gallons of grey water, its batteries are good for 12,000-watt hours while a solar charger will provide 1,300 watts. Now that’s being off the grid.
What will all of this set you back? Built in Colorado, the base price of LTi is $695,000. A well-equipped LTi will more likely come out to a final price in the $750,000 – $800,000 range. Come on Powerball!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out this week’s spot. I’ll have another one from AirVenture next Friday so hop on back and have a great weekend.
