Favoring style and performance over tradition …
Do you have a pile of money? I mean a really big pile just burning a hole in your pocket and looking to make a statement?
The 22 Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge might be your ticket. Mark and I are members of the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) and this year the Rolls made an appearance at the annual Spring Rally at our favorite place, Road America.
This car is over the top. The Ghost base is $398,850 and the Black Badge package adds $43,850. Even though it’s called the Black Badge, it’s available in any color you can think of. This one came in Burnout Gray which adds $15,900 to the sticker. This paint is a work of art. Comprised of five layers and 100 pounds of paint. Can you imagine getting a parking lot ding? It might require a second mortgage. The car’s 21-inch wheels are made of 22 layers of carbon fiber folded onto themselves, creating 44 total layers. The painted calipers in Mandarin will add $4,350.
The 6.8-liter V12 puts out 591 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, marking a 28 hp and 37 lb.-ft. increase over the standard Ghost. Like the standard car, a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic routes the power to all four wheels. Unfortunately, neither Mark nor I got to drive it.

What we did get to do was poke around the interior and wow, just wow. Carbon fiber, leather, and wood, real wood all over the place. The cabin just oozes that you’re rich. Besides the included umbrellas in the doors is a shooting star headliner. Yup, you can drive at night with your own constellations. The ultra-comfortable seats cost $10,775 bringing the total to $486,400. If you’re looking for attention at a local Cars & Coffee Event, this would be your ticket.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out this week’s car spot. While you’re here, check out my other spots and Mark’s new car reviews. Come back next Friday for another one of my spots. Have a great weekend.
Stepping into the 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost reveals the extensive use of a material that isn’t commonly associated with the brand’s interiors: carbon fiber. However, instead of utilizing the type of weave pattern you’d expect to see in a sports car, the British carmaker came up with its own. The diamond-style weave incorporates metallic fibers, so the material shines, giving it a flashy aesthetic. Its execution makes it hard to tell that it’s carbon at a glance. Regardless, its shine looks undoubtedly expensive, perfectly suiting the Black Badge’s aesthetic.
As tested, the 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge we drove comes in at $484,950. This enormous sum starts with the $332,500 you’ll need for the standard Ghost. The Black Badge package then adds $43,850 and includes the updated powertrain, suspension, and wheels mentioned earlier.
The 100-lb Black Diamond paint is the next most expensive option at $12,525, while . Top things off with color contrasting leather, picnic tables, and upgraded umbrellas, and you end up with a total of $152,450 in optional extras over a standard Ghost.

Ohhh yes. When you have this kind of money, no matter the weather outside, the sun (and the stars) are always shining for you.
